2010 World Time Attack Challenge / Superlap results including Mark Berry Advan / Hi Octane Racing R34 GT-R
The 2010 World Time Attack Challenge / Superlap was a very successful event for The Tuners Group and for the cars which we sponsor.
The Tuners Group sponsored 3 cars in this event:
Mark Berry's Advan / Hi Octane R34 GT-R
Marek Tomaszewski's Nissan R35 GT-R (Clubsprint Class)
And Stephen Kakavas's Kakavas Racing Subaru WRX. Steven broke the crank in his Pro class WRX on Thursday so he drove his Evo 9 in Clubsprint class.
Of the 3 teams we sponsored, all finished top 7 in their classes, which we are very happy with, especially considering how much work went into achieving those results.
Congratulations to Mark, Stephen and Marek on your fantastic results !

To get an idea of how competitive the racing was in the Clubsprint class, check out these two photos of the brakes on Duncan Forrest's R35 GT-R and the colour that the normally light gold coloured calipers on his car were after the event ! ...

Congratulations to all the Australian cars that performed so well in the event, as well as the incredible Japanese and American teams.
A great weekend for JRZ Suspension
In addition, JRZ Suspension had a great result in the top level Pro Class.
The Tuners Group is a factory authorised dealer for JRZ suspension.
The Prep'd Motorsport Lotus Elise driven by Warren Luff was the top placed Australian car, 4th in the international Pro Class, and ran JRZ Suspension - a set of JRZ triple adjustable racing dampers / shocks.
Though the Lotus is not sponsored by The Tuners Group, we were very pleased to see it finish 4th running JRZ Suspension.
The suspension setup and tuning on the Prep'd Motorsport Lotus Elise was performed by the suspension engineer who does the suspension setup work for our customer cars.
Congratulations to Warren Luff on a fantastic result.

A Special Congratulations To Mark Berry and his team
Mark's result in the R34 was even more impressive because the R34 blew a head gasket on Friday morning, the first day of the event.
When the head was removed, a stripped female thread in the engine block was discovered, where the head studs bolts to the block.
A thread insert in the correct thread had to be located in Sydney, then installed, then the top end of the engine and associated plumbing etc reassembled.
The team worked very late on Friday night in the pit garage to get the car fixed and ready to race on Saturday.
The photo above was taken at 11.25 PM on Friday night from pit lane, with Mark and the crew all hard at work under the bonnet of the R34.
We stayed at Eastern Creek until around midnight on Friday night.
Also a huge thanks to Works Bell who organised a Works Bell Paddle Shifter NEO Universal and Works Bell Short Boss for the R34 on a very short lead time in time for the race.

Toshiki Yoshioka's incredible display in the drift section of the event.
Toshiki Yoshioka also made the trip to Australia, and he put on a spectacular display in the drift challenge at the event.
Yoshioka is sponsored by Works Bell, so as Works Bell's exclusive Australian distributor we were very pleased to see him make his first visit to Australia.
Yoshioka is an absolute gentleman and it was a pleasure to catch up with him in Sydney.
Yoshioka told us that he'd like to visit Australia again - stay tuned !
In D1 in Japan this year, Yoshioka is driving a Mazda RX7 FD3S with Team Magic (pictured above).

Photos from pit lane
Sierra Sierra during their final session on Saturday afternoon at WTAC 2010
As we were working closely with Mark Berry's R34 at the event, we had an ideal view from Mark's garage in pit lane.
The R34 shared a garage with the Russ's Advan / Hi Octane Racing R32 GT-R and the Panspeed RX-7, with Sierra Sierra in the garage next door, so we were right up close to the action.
The Panspeed RX7 as it pulled out of the garage for it's final run on Saturday afternoon - note the GPS system in the dash
The Cyber Evo's engine bay - complete with the trophy
Think the CyberEVO guys were happy about the win ? You betcha !
We have over a huge number photos from the World Time Attack Challenge which will be posted on our website in a photo gallery in the next few days.
