BRM21 HAC High Power Accelerator Controller

untitled image untitled image

The BRM21 HAC (High Power Accelerator Controller) is a new product from Japan.

The HAC has been received with huge excitement by drivers in Japan, and it's respected reputation in Japan and great performance benefits can now be experienced by our customers worldwide.

The BRM21 HAC (High Power Accelerator Controller) enhances the throttle response of your car and solves the hesitation from a standing start and when accelerating from cruising speed seen on many late model vehicles.

It works by modifying the signal sent from your accelerator pedal sensor and sends a modified signal to your car's ECU, as if you are applying a wider / more aggressive throttle opening as your accelerator pedal is applied.

The HAC is available for a wide range of European and Japanese vehicles - see further down this page for a list of vehicles it is available for.

Dial In The Throttle Response You Want - With In Cabin Control

untitled image

The HAC includes an in cabin control so that you can adjust the responsiveness of how your engine's throttle body opens in response to your inputs on the accelerator pedal.

This allows you to totally customise the feel of your car. With the HAC you have control over how responsive your throttle is.

The in cabin controller features a simple to use twist dial to set it your throttle responsiveness to how you want it, handy LED's to show when the HAC system is on or off, and when the HAC is in operation, and a simple push on the dial turns the HAC on or off.

It's never been easier to adjust the throttle response on your car to how you want it !

How it works

untitled image

The BRM21 HAC sits between your accelerator pedal sensor and your car's ECU. The in cabin controller allows you to adjust the operation of the HAC system to exactly how you want it.

The control signal from the HAC system is sent your car's ECU, which in turn controls the throttle body on your engine.

untitled image

Shown above is a chart comparing throttle response with the HAC system fitted to the throttle response with an original electronic throttle, and an original wired (cable throttle).

The horizontal axis is the accelerator pedal opening (how much you are stepping on the gas), and the vertical access is the opening of the throttle body on your engine.

If you look at the dotted line (Original Electronic Throttle), that shows how many car manufacturers set the throttle response on their vehicles - as you step on the accelerator pedal (moving to the right on the graph), the throttle body on your engine is not opening as fast as you are stepping on the gas - the throttle body on your engine is lagging behind your accelerator / gas pedal. This can make your car feel slow and unresponsive - as if your inputs on the throttle pedal are delayed.

Particularly at initial throttle openings, that kind of tuning as shown in the Original Electronic Throttle dotted line, is a graphical representation of why many cars have a lag in throttle response.

If you then look at the red line (With HAC), you can see that as you step on the gas (moving to the right on the graph), the HAC tells your engine to open the throttle body on your engine faster as you step on the gas. This results in better throttle response, and can help to produce that "crisp" accelerator pedal feel that every driver loves.

And best of all, the in cabin controller has a knob that allows you to dial in the HAC throttle response to exactly how you want it - all it takes is a simple twist of the in cabin control dial.

Features

The HAC is the controller unit which controls the degree of throttle opening via accelerator pedal

Acceleration from zero-start as well as from high speed cruising will be improved.

Undesirable hesitation you experience at start of stepping down on the pedal will be diminished and quick throttle response is always available

When the engine is turned off, HAC is also turned off. When you restart the engine, HAC will not be engaged unless the HAC Power Switch on the in cabin controller is depressed.

Please note that HAC is designed, manufactured, marketed and sold for use in motorsport and is not for use on public roads.

Installation Info

Installation is simple, and quickly reversible.

Each HAC unit includes an application specific wiring harness with application specific connectors, so in most cases the HAC plugs straight into your car's factory wiring.

The HAC also ships with installation instructions in English.
