Following up on our story back in February with details of plans to develop a motorsport facility on the NSW central coast to the north of Sydney (an idea we think is very good indeed), things seem to be moving in the right direction.
A call for expressions of interest has appeard on Wyong Council's website. It reads ...
"Council has resolved to recognise in principle the need to establish a regional Motor Sport and Driver Education facility within the Wyong Shire.
As a result, the Wyong Automotive Racing Precinct (WARP) project has been established, with a view to to exploring the potential to create a Motor Sport facility which could cater for a broad range of activities, including:
- Driver education facility (both general and race car education)
- Car and motorcycle testing and racing facility for car enthusiast and club use
- Dirt bike tracks
- Mountain biking facility
- Car dealer demonstration areas
- Potential drag strip venue for street racers and / or
- Concert / event space"
The council is calling for expressions of interest and comments.
The council website continues ...
"Council is now conducting initial planning investigations in order to identify user group requirements for such a facility.
As part of these investigations Council is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from potential user groups to determine the level of interest if such a facility was established in Wyong Shire and to provide a list of requirements including the range of facilities required and potential usage level of such facilities.
Based on the outcomes of this EOI process, Council will utilise this information to investigate possible locations within Wyong Shire for development of a Wyong Automotive Racing Precinct."
We'd encourage all automotive clubs to make your voice heard about the need for this facility.
Note that the Council questionaire reads "Please return to Wyong Shire Council by 17 July 2009" which is only two weeks from now.
The questionaire can be downloaded from ...
The page on the Wyong Council website about the proposal is here ...

Works Bell Sponsored Driver Toshiki Yoshioka Claims Incredible Drift Win In Las Vegas - Video Interview Below
Works Bell sponsored drifter Toshiki Yoshioka has completely stunned the American drift fraternity by winning the Las Vegas round of Formula D in his giant slaying Toyota AE86 - in only his second event ever on American soil !
We are one of only two Works Bell authorised national distributors worldwide outside of Japan, so it gives us immense pleasure to see a driver using the products we sell achieving such great success.
Congratulations Yoshioka-san !!
Speedhunters.com reported ...
"Yoshioka is notorious in Japan for speaking softly and carrying a big stick. He is somehow able to drive his 300 horsepower 20 valve 4AG powered AE86 to the limit, and even people with much higher horsepower cars can't keep up with him! Some of the Formula D drivers who tried matching Yoshioka's speed through the course actually ended up slamming into the wall !"
RiceBoy TV did a video interview with Yoshioka about his win and what makes his AE86 so fast.
You can view the video interview by clicking here (watch it right to the end - he's definitely a character !)
Speedhunters.com's report on Yoshioka's Las Vegas win, and additional photos of a completely jubilant Yoshioka at the event can be seen by clicking here
You can purchase exactly the same Works Bell products as used by Yoshioka from our Works Bell products page which you can access by clicking here.
