R35 GT-R smashes class 4D lap record by 1.3 seconds at Eastern Creek International Raceway
A huge congratulations to Australian racer Duncan Forrest, who has smashed the Class 4D lap record at Eastern Creek International Raceway in Sydney. The old lap record had stood since 2005.
Racing in the NSW Supersprint Series in his Nissan R35 GT-R equipped with a new rear wing, Duncan destroyed the old lap record by a massive 1.323 seconds, posting a time of 1 min 41.087 seconds.
Duncan said of the new record ...
I won our local state sprint championship (outright) for 2009, smashing lap records at all local tracks along the way.
As ever though, i had to find a way to up the ante for the 2010 season ...
I now have the wing mounted on a carbon boot, with electrical plugs set up so i can swap it all out (with the stocker trunk/wing) for race days. Easy.
Result on the first outing? At Eastern Creek Sydney (NSW, Australia) for round two of the local time attack/sprint series, we managed to smash the 4D Class lap record by 1.3 seconds!! Securing first for outright points on the day also.
I couldnt believe it ! Awesome ! The car just felt more stable everywhere. Even under drift situations the car feels more predictable and confidence inspiring ...
The addition of the slicks and wing yielded 3.8 seconds around that track in aggregate (amazing).
The slicks had to be at least two seconds so work it out!
... Thanks guys!!
Here's to more smashed records to come!

The new lap record bodes very well for the car's upcoming appearance at Eastern Creek in May at Superlap / World Time Attack Challenge.
Well done Duncan, and the best of luck for the rest of the season.
